Why I Don't Argue on The Internet or With Fools

Never argue with a fool; onlookers may not be able to tell the difference. - Mark Twain

Arguing on the internet is the most pointless thing. Despite being a sole admin of multiple internet groups, each on a different platform. I never engaged into "debates" on the internet. Not to mention that majority of "debates" on the internet aren't even debates. Because internet makes people behave in a way they would not do in real life.

Whenever someone tries to bait me, I simply do not respond back, complete inaction. But sometimes in past, I ended it by saying, Lmao, I am not debating that, Nice bait or just by simply laughing at them for being way too excited, interested to change an internet's strangers opinion on internet, prove them wrong.

Below is an example of such. I had done a surprise visit(through an alt account) to one of my internet group six months post leaving and appointing moderators. One of the moderator there, T, was surprised to see that I had not blocked her. This was clearly a bait, so I rightfully called it out using my signature phrase, "Nice bait".

T: What are we seething about now? I have missed out on a lot. Me: This tbh. I only see yours and that [another member nickname] messages. T: omg you haven't blocked me 🤗. Me: Nice bait

If they still do not stop, I do not hesitate much before blocking them. Blocking is both a self-care and a means of punishment. Back when I was sole admin of groups, I could not block anyone as it would let them bypass moderation. But now I have no such issue.

I do not write autobiographies, memoirs, or tell people much about my past achievements. I just let people see my present achievements. Because I strongly believe in Achievements Speak Louder Than Words, and that present achievements are a good representative of past achievements. Another reason being that I dislike trauma dumping or acting like a victim. Even though by doing so I could gather donations, empathy etc. I never made it possible to donate to me either.

I apply this advice everywhere in my life, not just on internet. Not only it has saved me a lot of stress, but most important thing is that it saves me time too. However practicing complete inaction in life takes practice. As their can be reaction through body language, presence etc.
